What Should I Donate?

Everyone from professors to local restaurants to law firms to current law students have donated to PILF auctions. Past auction items donated by faculty have included brunch with Professor Briffault and lunch with Professors Sarah Cleveland and Amal Clooney; past auction items donated by students have included portrait-painting sessions and cake baking. Who attends the Bid For Justice Auction?

Each year, approximately 500 students, faculty, community members, and friends of PILF attend the Auction. Donated items receive the attention of bidders and attract PILF supporters to the donating businesses.

Whom does the Auction Benefit?

PILF is currently working on an initiative to provide grants to CLS students working in public interest positions their 2L summer or immediately after graduation. More information to be announced shortly!

The Community Grants Program
Using the proceeds from the annual auction, PILF awards grants to various non-profit and pro bono organizations that serve disadvantaged communities in New York, around the U.S. and abroad.

The Law Student Pro Bono Caravans
PILF gives a significant portion of its annual revenues to support student spring break pro bono caravans, which provide much needed legal services to low income people throughout the globe. For the 2022-2023 school year, PILF helped fund 14 different Caravans, including the CLWA, BLSA, NALSA, CJAN, CLSP, and EWOC Caravans.
